Bob Miller graduated from The University of Georgia (history) in 1964. He graduated from Yale Law School in 1967, where he was awarded the John Currier Gallagher Prize. He practiced law in Atlanta for 31 years, as follows: Alston , Miller & Gaines (1967-1977; partner, 1971-1977); Bondurant, Miller, Hishon & Stephenson (partner, 1977-1985); King & Spalding (partner, 1985-1997). He is a Past President of the American Health Lawyers Association and a Past President of the Georgia Academy of Hospital Attorneys. From 2007 to 2011, he was Editor in Chief of The Journal of Health & Life Sciences Law; and in 2010 wrote The Effect of the Health Reform Act on Self-Insured Employer Health Plans, J. Health & Life Sci.L., October 2010, at 59. In 2011, he was given the David J. Greenburg Award by the American Health Lawyers Association. He has taught health law courses at Emory Law School since 2000. In addition, since 1998, he has served on the Boards of Directors of six publicly-held healthcare companies and as Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of Grady Memorial Hospital Corporation (2008-2014).
