Biography

Chuck Taylor, an Atlanta native, is CEO of the HT Group, which engages in the development, acquisition, and ownership of commercial property, with a focus on neighborhood retail centers. He is also a lawyer and registered neutral. Taylor is on the Commercial and Large Construction Case Arbitration and Mediation Panels at the American Arbitration Association. He holds an AB from Brown University, where he studied economics, musicology, and theatre, and a JD from Emory University School of Law, where he is adjunct professor teaching Real Estate Finance and Transactions to JD and MBA candidates.

Taylor was the longest serving member of the Fulton County Arts Council, where he was the founding chair of the Fulton County Public Art program, which he was instrumental in creating. He is secretary of the Board of the Atlanta Educational Telecommunications Cooperative (Public Broadcasting Atlanta). He is a National Commissioner of the Anti-Defamation League and serves on the National Executive Committee and several other National Committees. He is Secretary of the Board and former Civil Rights chair of the ADL Southeast Region Board. Taylor is a member of the Board of Directors of the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. He is an active Board Member of Planned Parenthood of the Southeast. He is also a member of the Georgia Tech Arts advisory Board and Executive Committee, a board member of One Good Deed and serves on the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival Steering Committee. He is also on the board of the Ansley Golf Club and is a Mayor’s appointee and the co-chair of the Technical Advisory Committee of the City of Atlanta Office of Buildings. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Temple in Atlanta. Taylor was also a former at-large member of the Atlanta Jewish Federation Community Relations Committee (CRC) and served as vice president of the Board of the William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum. He is a graduate of the Atlanta Jewish Federation’s 1987 Goldstein Leadership Institute and the Leadership Atlanta Class of 1998. He was also a member of the Georgia Advisory Committee of the United States Commission on Civil Rights. He has been very active over the years in a variety of political campaigns at the local, state and national levels. He was also a long time board member at The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center f/k/a Nexus Contemporary Art Center, where he chaired the building committee responsible for the acquisition and redevelopment the current Contemporary facility.

Chuck Taylor is an avid sailor, pilot, skier, golfer, and wino. He is an active member of the Chevaliers du Tastevin and the Chaine des Rotisseurs. He and his wife, Lisa, live in Ansley Park in Atlanta with their one-eyed dog, Jack, and ever growing art and wine collections. Their children both attend Brown University, where their daughter, Alix, is a senior and their son, Miles, is a freshman.
