There are a number of books and programs available that can help you prepare for your first classes, some with scholarship or reimbursement opportunities. Assistant Dean for Academic Engagement and Student Success Katherine Brokaw will guide you through these programs in this video, which can help you determine which opportunities you’d like to pursue.


AT&T Legal Scholars Program (online)

July 22-23, 2021

Application deadline: June 15, 2021

A two and a half-day intensive workshop designed to provide participants with insight into the legal profession and the tools necessary to succeed in law school. For candidates with stellar academic credentials that have demonstrated an active commitment to the furtherance of diversity and inclusion.

Barbri Law Preview Program (online)

On-demand Programming

Application deadline: None; diversity scholarship application deadline is May 15, 2021

Barbri is a private program that provides overviews of core 1L class materials, exam-taking strategies, and academic skills. It offers 48 hours of on-demand modules from law school teachers with live q&a sessions.

Fees: $1,395. Discounts are available with the code “Emory100” for $100 off.

Council for Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) Attitude is Essential (online)

June 19-20, July 17-18, August 7-8

Application deadline: Wednesday prior to seminar dates

A two-day online program to learn about the law school classroom experience, the Socratic Method of teaching, exam taking, and legal writing.

Financial aid: $50 fee, reimbursed by Emory Law as a Fall 2021 tuition credit upon successful completion 


Council for Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) Pre-Law Summer Institution (online)

May 24 – July 2, 2021

Application deadline: May 10, 2021

A multi-week, intensive online program designed to prepare participants to be more competitive law school students. For graduating seniors or graduates who plan to attend law school in the fall.

Financial aid: $1,500 fee, reimbursed by Emory Law as a Fall 2021 tuition credit upon successful completion 


Harvard 0L Program (online)

On-demand Programming

Application deadline: None

Developed by Harvard Law School, Zero-L is an online course designed to ensure all incoming students, whatever their backgrounds and previous areas of study, start with foundational legal knowledge that enables them to thrive in law school.

JD Advising Law School Prep Course (online)

On-demand Programming beginning May 1, 2021

Application deadline: None

Designed to help students develop the skills needed to succeed in law school. Students will have an opportunity to practice reading and briefing cases, making an outline, and answering exam questions.

Kaptest 1L Edge Program (online)

On-demand Programming

Application deadline: None

Kaptest 1L Edge Program is a private program that provides 1L subject lectures, class outlines, practice questions, and exam strategies. It offers 50 hours of on-demand modules from law school teachers.

Fees: $1,799 through April 15

Themis Law School Essentials (online)

On-demand Programming

Application deadline: None

Short, issue-specific lectures taught by the Themis bar review faculty, followed by assessment questions. Courses provide comprehensive review materials for first-year curriculum and many upper-level electives.
