Melissa Altman Linsky received her bachelor’s degree in communication from UCLA in 1997 and her juris doctorate from Emory University School of Law in 2002. After graduating law school, she practiced trademark law at Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear, LLP, in Orange County, California. Upon moving back to Atlanta, she worked in the trademark group at Turner Broadcasting Systems, Inc., and when, in 2004, Turner sold the Atlanta Hawks, the Atlanta Thrashers, and operating rights to Philips Arena to Atlanta Spirit, LLC, she joined the new company and assisted with setting up its legal department. Melissa developed the Sports & Marketing Law class at Emory Law School in 2008 and left Atlanta Spirit that same year to spend more time with her family and continue teaching. In addition to teaching, Melissa provides legal counsel to professional sports teams and marketing companies in Atlanta. She is the author of the Little Book of Basketball Law (ABA 2013).
