Emory Law surpasses state average by 15 points on Georgia Bar Exam

The July 2026 GA bar results are out, and Emory School of Law’s first-time taker pass rate climbed 4.2 percent to 89.5 percent — 15 percentage points above the statewide average. This achievement reflects graduates’ dedication as well as an institutional focus on their success, including targeted preparation for the Georgia bar exam and a strengthened focus on student flourishing. This is Emory Law’s highest Georgia Bar pass rate since 2021.
“We are very pleased with the results of our graduates on the July 2026 Georgia bar exam,” said dean and Charles Howard Candler Professor of Law Richard D. Freer. “Fewer than half our graduates take the Georgia bar exam, so we also look forward to seeing the results from New York, California, Texas, Florida, and others, as well.”
He continued,“Bar passage is a priority, and though this is a team effort, particular credit is due to Kamina Pinder, who is our associate dean of academic excellence, and Franklin Lebo, who created a special class for those taking the Georgia bar and the Bar Insight program that supported our graduates as they studied for the bar."
Pinder adds, “We are proud of our Georgia bar results and the success of our alumni. The increase in our pass rate is particularly exciting given the overall decline in the state’s bar passage rate. This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of our alumni, the strategic vision of our dean (including a strong commitment to raising bar passage rates), the faculty’s implementation of innovative pedagogy, and the ongoing support of our staff. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing our upward trajectory in the years ahead.”
Bar passage efforts are supported in significant part by a $2 million gift from Richard Conviser, the founder of BARBRI, a national leader in providing bar review and other legal education materials.
