Biography
Paul Koster teaches Introduction to Legal Analysis, Research, and Communications, Introduction to Legal Advocacy, Introduction to the American Legal System, Legal Profession, and Administrative Law. He also serves as the faculty advisor to the Emory Law School Supreme Court Advocacy Program and the Emory Law Moot Court Society. He was awarded the Minister Gloria Jean Fowler Angel Award by the Emory Law Class of 2024, Professor of the Year by the Emory Black Law Students Association in 2023, and the Provost’s Distinguished Teaching Award for Excellence in Graduate and Professional Education in 2021.
Koster practiced law for nearly twenty years, including ten years as managing partner of a boutique Atlanta law firm which he co-founded. During his time in practice, he was named a Georgia Super Lawyer and a Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Star on multiple occasions. Following law school, he served as a staff attorney for the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit and as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Stephanie Duncan-Peters of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
Koster is the Chair of the Pro Bono Committee for the Legal Writing Institute for the 2024-2026 term and has served as a visiting faculty member at the Peking University School of Transnational Law and the University of Warsaw Center for American Law Studies.
