EPIC honors leaders in public interest

As part of its annual Inspiration Awards, the Emory Public Interest Committee (EPIC) honored a student and three community members for their outstanding contributions to public service. Amanda Quiles 17L received the newly named Mark and Rebekah Wasserman Public Service Award while the principal awards of the evening went to a managing attorney, a general counsel, and a chief human resources officer.
Sarah Geraghty, the managing attorney of the Impact Litigation Unit at the Southern Center for Human Rights, received the Unsung Devotion to Those Most in Need award.
Teresa Wynn Roseborough, executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at The Home Depot, received the Outstanding Leadership in the Public Interest award.
Teri Plummer McClure 88L is human resources officer and senior vice president of human resources and labor and employment communications for United Parcel Service (UPS). She received the Lifetime Commitment to Public Service Award.
“Honoring the work of individuals such as this year's honorees shines a spotlight on the value of public service performed by very successful lawyers,” said Rita Sheffey, assistant dean for public service. “It inspires our students who want to pursue public service careers at the same time it supports them by raising money for summer grants for otherwise unfunded public interest positions.”
