Biography

Debbie Segal is an adjunct professor in the Externship Program where she teaches students who have chosen to spend a semester with civil public interest organizations. Her entire career for over thirty years has been devoted to representing low income individuals and the organizations that address their needs, as the Pro Bono Partner at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, the Executive Director of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and a Managing and Staff Attorney at Atlanta Legal Aid.

Debbie has served on the Boards of Directors of many organizations that provide pro bono legal services to diverse and underserved populations and has chaired both the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono & Public Service and the Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence. She is currently a trustee of the Georgia Bar Foundation and a member of the Advisory Board of the Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network. Debbie has been recognized for her work by the Anti-Defamation League, Emory University School of Law, Pro Bono Partnership, Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network, State Bar of Georgia, the National Association of Pro Bono Professionals and other organizations.

She is a graduate of Emory Law and Cornell University.
