Biography
Kirk C. Stange is an adjunct professor at Emory School of Law and a founding partner of Stange Law Firm, PC, a multi-state domestic relations law firm founded in 2007. He has helped guide the firm's growth from a single-office practice into a multi-state organization. His current work centers on strategic leadership, business operations, marketing, attorney development, and the delivery of responsive legal services.
Stange has devoted a substantial part of his career to legal education and professional development. He has taught in Emory Law's Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques and regularly presents continuing legal education programs for The Missouri Bar, the National Business Institute, Strafford, and other legal education providers. In 2014, he presented at the Eighth Circuit Judicial Conference on social media evidence for attorneys and judges. In 2017, The Missouri Bar recognized him for his substantial contributions to continuing legal education for Missouri attorneys. He has also served as a mentor through The Missouri Bar Mentoring Program.
Stange earned his juris doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2000, where he was selected to the Order of the Barristers for courtroom advocacy. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in history from Fontbonne University in 1997 and completed the ABA Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute in 2006. He is licensed to practice in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
His professional recognitions include selection to Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers for domestic relations law every year since 2015 and to Missouri Lawyers Weekly's POWER List for domestic relations law every year since 2020. He was named to the publication's Top 100 POWER List in 2025 and received its Law Firm Leader Award in 2026. He was also inducted into the St. Louis Small Business Monthly Hall of Fame in 2026 and has been recognized in the JD Supra Readers' Choice Awards as a leading legal author since 2023.
Stange is the author of Prenuptial Agreements Line by Line, published by Thomson Reuters/Aspatore Publishing in 2014, and has contributed chapters to other Thomson Reuters publications addressing military and Illinois domestic relations law. In 2025, he co-authored the chapter on adult protection orders, child protection orders, and child abuse in domestic cases for the eighth edition of The Missouri Bar's Missouri Family Law deskbook.
