Biography
Henry Leaman teaches first-year legal research and writing. He graduated from Miami University, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He then graduated from Notre Dame Law School, magna cum laude, where he was a teaching assistant for civil procedure, a member of the Notre Dame Law Review, and a member of the school’s Seventh Circuit Team—a specialized moot court team that briefed and argued pro bono criminal appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Following graduation, Leaman began his career at Jenner & Block before clerking for both the Honorable James R. Sweeney II on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and for the Honorable E. Grady Jolly on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. After his clerkships, Leaman practiced at McDermott Will & Schulte in Chicago, where he represented employees and companies in complex matters related to restrictive covenants, trade secrets, discrimination claims, and wage and hour disputes.
Today, Leaman is the Executive Attorney-Coach for the mock trial team at the University of Notre Dame. He also serves as a member of the Chicago Bar Association’s AI & Legal Research & Writing Committee.
