Emory hosts ABA arbitration competition

A. Kenyatta Greer |

Emory Law will host a regional section of the American Bar Association Law Student Division Arbitration Competition this weekend.

Twelve teams are slated to participate, including Georgetown, Michigan State, Stetson, University of Florida, Drake University and Louisiana State, and close to 50 local lawyers will serve as arbitrator judges for the competition.

According to the ABA, the arbitration competition promotes greater knowledge in arbitration by simulating a realistic arbitration hearing. Participants prepare and present opening statements, witness examinations, exhibit introductions, evidentiary presentations, and summations for an arbitration case.

The competition will be held Saturday and Sunday at Emory Law.
