The Master of Legal Studies (MLS) degree is a 30 credit degree intended for professionals or individuals who want to improve their legal literacy and become more knowledgeable regarding the impact of law and regulation on their industry and field of expertise. Our students include C-suite executives, HR directors, compliance officers, and healthcare administrators, among others.
Program Requirements
To complete your MLS, you will take these courses:
- Introduction to the American Legal System (3 credits)
- Analysis, Research and Communications for Professionals (3 credits)
- Contracts (3 or 4 credits)
- Law and Legal Professionals (3 credits)
- Electives for a total of 30 credits
- MLS Law Foundations Workshop and Virtual Boot Camp
The program can be completed in as little as 20 months.

Emory Law’s online, asynchronous classes are specifically designed for working professionals. The online format is composed of 10 sequential asynchronous courses, with two synchronous online experiences, and can be completed in as little as 20 months.
