Why Is Annual Giving Important?

Annual gifts to Emory Law provide a crucial bridge between tuition revenue and the actual cost of running our top-tier law school. Gifts to the Law School Fund for Excellence, regardless of their size, provide the flexibility to address pressing needs and allow the dean to focus on the school’s highest priorities.

Annual giving is one of the most important ways alumni and friends of Emory Law can make an immediate impact. By making a gift to the Law School Fund for Excellence, you help support scholarships and financial aid, student and faculty recruitment, research, and student-led organizations such as the Emory Public Interest Committee, Black Law Students Association, and Legal Association of Women Students, just to name a few. In addition, your annual contribution also helps fund our distinctive programs integrating theory and practice, including

  • The Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques;
  • The nationally recognized Center for Transactional Law and Practice;
  • The award-winning Barton Child Law and Policy Center;
  • TI:GER®, Emory Law’s pathbreaking technology partnership with Georgia Tech; and
  • Extensive externship and clinical opportunities.

Annual giving also supports the Center for Professional Development and Career Strategy. Developed in 2011, the Career Center provides the structure, oversight, guidance, and resources that enable students to explore their unique professional journey, while leveraging professional development and job search tools to their maximum advantage.

Law School Fund for Excellence

Look behind any activity at Emory Law and you will see the Law School Fund for Excellence at work. The fund, which supports the law school as a whole, primarily is used to augment our scholarship funds to students. This year over 90% of our students will benefit from that support. Thanks to scholarship support, the actual average tuition students pay today is less than the average tuition students paid in 2006. We are doing all that we can to keep the Emory legal education affordable and accessible to all qualified students. Every dollar and every gift make a difference.

Your gifts strengthen the law school and provide us with the dexterity we need to respond to a rapidly changing legal market and to the needs of our students and community. Emory Law is a dynamic institution—still improving and evolving each day. Two important new programs, the Emory Law Supreme Court Advocacy Project and the Volunteer Clinic for Veterans are proof that we continue to improve on the opportunities we provide our students. The support of our alumni and friends makes this possible. We thank you for your support and ask you to renew today.

As a member of The Wise Heart Society, you take the lead among Emory’s most influential annual supporters.

Your gift will help meet critical needs including scholarships; support for our distinguished faculty and our Center for Professional Development, an innovative approach to helping students gain employment; and much more.
