Biography
Margaret Hughes Vath is principal senior lecturer at Georgia State University College of Law. She is the director of the Lawyering: Foundations Program, which is a year-long 1L legal writing course. She also teaches Legal Writing & Analysis for LL.M. Students, Lawyering: Practice-Ready Writing, and Introduction to U.S. Law. Professor Vath earned her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and her B.A. cum laude from the University of Delaware. Always learning, Professor Vath is pursuing a doctoral degree in English/Composition & Rhetoric from Georgia State University.
Professor Vath is a member of the Georgia Bar and is admitted to practice in all Georgia state courts, the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Before academia, Professor Vath was in private practice at large and mid-sized Buckhead firms where she focused on civil litigation and corporate governance.
An avid volunteer, Professor Vath is a Past-President of the Atlanta Bar Association, an Atlanta Bar Foundation Board Member, and a producer of the charitable fundraiser "A Courthouse Line," an all-lawyer musical comedy parody.
Professor Vath is the proud recipient of the Maleski Award for Teaching Excellence in 2020 and the Kaminshine Award for Excellence in Service in 2023.
