Estimated Direct Costs
- Tuition $2,172 per credit hour
- Students who pursue the online Master of Legal Studies degree will be charged tuition on a per-credit-hour basis, in accordance with the number of enrolled credit hours.
- Fees $1,312
- Fixed charges for online, athletics, activity, online program, and health and wellness fees. Billed to your student account. Actual total billed amount of fees may be different based on your final course selections.
- First Semester Fee $150
- First semester fee for degree seeking students. Billed to your student account.
- Health Insurance $5,456
- Health insurance is required for all students. You will be billed for the university’s student health insurance plan if you do not provide proof of adequate coverage from another insurer.
Estimated Indirect Costs
- Books, Supplies, and Equipment $2,356
- The Emory Bookstore provides this estimate of expenses for required textbooks and other course materials. Actual expenses will vary by student.
- Direct Loan Fees $1,294
- Represents a fee assessed by the Department of Education at the time of Direct Loan origination. The fee is calculated as a percentage of the loan amount and is deducted at the time of disbursement.
Scholarships
Emory Law has a limited number of scholarships available to highly qualified students. All applicants are considered for scholarship funding; there is no separate application process for scholarships. Students will be notified about any scholarship offer as part of their letter of acceptance. Please note, students will receive the highest scholarship they qualify for, but they will not receive more than one of the scholarships they qualify for (i.e. scholarship stacking is prohibited).
Emory Healthcare Employees, Emory University Employees, and Emory University Alumni
We offer a 15% Founder's Scholarship to all Emory Healthcare and Emory University employees as well as Emory University alumni, their spouses, domestic partners, and dependents beginning the Master of Legal Studies program in the current academic year.
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
We offer eligible Health and Human Services (HHS) employees and contractors, and their immediate families (spouses, domestic partners, siblings, and children) an application fee waiver as well as a 15% tuition discount for part-time students, and a 25% tuition discount for full-time students in the MLS program.
Founder's Scholarship
We offer a 15% scholarship to members of the following associations, who are beginning the Master of Legal Studies program in the current academic year.
- Atlanta Association of Legal Administrators (AALA)
- Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA)
- International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)
- Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)
- Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)
All enrolled students at Emory University, including those enrolled in the school of law’s online degree programs, are subject to the university’s tuition refund policy. That includes the policy’s schedule of reduced refund levels, with the passage of additional days following the start of the relevant semester (i.e., spring, summer, or fall). Even as to classes that start in the middle of the term, thus, any withdrawal must occur at the start of relevant term, if any refund is to be received.
Yellow Ribbon Program
The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program is a provision of the Post 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. Emory Law is proud to participate in the program and offers a Yellow Ribbon award of $3,500 per academic year. If you are interested in participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program, please contact the Office of Admission and Scholarships at mlsadmission@emory.edu to learn more. Veterans and their families are very important to the Emory community.

Emory Law Yellow Ribbon will be matched by the Veterans Administration based upon the most recent guidelines as found on the Department of Veterans Affairs website. All Yellow Ribbon awards are based on Post 9/11 Veterans eligibility requirements established by the Veterans Administration and are not need-based. For more details go to the Registrar's Website.
