Stadalius 15L takes 2nd place at statewide closing argument competition

Emory University School of Law |

Lauren Stadalius 15L, director-in-chief of the Emory Law Mock Trial Society, won second place and a $1,000 cash prize at the 2014 Law Student Closing Argument Competition hosted by the Keenan’s Kids Kid Foundation. The competition was held Nov. 8 at the Keenan Law Firm Courtroom in Atlanta, before a panel of experienced plaintiff and defense lawyers and local media representatives.

In the mock trial competition, second- and third-year law students give 15-minute closing arguments for damages on behalf of the plaintiff, in a civil case involving a catastrophically injured child. Fact pattern, exhibits and demonstrative evidence are furnished.

Competitors were chosen from applicants across Georgia. The top four competitors received cash awards.

The competition was established in 1997 to highlight the importance of children’s rights and to encourage law students to pursue work in the field.
